Frigidaire Oven Not Heating Up Properly? Here’s what to do

Frigidaire Oven Not Heating Up Properly? Here's what to do
This guide will show you how to fix your Frigidaire’s oven if it isn’t heating up. If your oven is not heating, it could be due to several factors. Please find out why your oven won’t heat by following our simple step-by-step guide.

1. Check to make sure that your oven has power

The power supply is the first thing you should check. For an electric Frigidaire, the oven needs 240 volts. Gas ovens need 120 volts to work correctly. It may only heat well if your oven has enough power. Here’s how to determine if the oven is receiving enough power: Plug your oven into another socket if it won’t even turn on. If it works on a new socket, your original socket will need to be replaced or repaired. Turn on the circuit breaker.

Check the voltage on the power supply to see if the oven is working. If you don’t have the correct voltage (240 for electric ovens or 120 for gas), it is necessary to replace the power outlet. The incoming power must pass the test before you can move to the next step. Install a power socket and turn on the oven to see if it now heats appropriately. If it doesn’t work, try step 2.

2. Check that the igniter is working

Gas ovens only. Step 5 is for electric Frigidaire ovens. The next component to inspect in a gas oven is the igniter. The igniter lights the burner. Your oven may not heat if the igniter is faulty. Check if your igniter is working by first trying to light each burner. Multimeters are needed to test the igniter if one or more burners do not ignite. Turn off the gas and power, locate the ignition, and remove the wires. Test the continuity of the cables with a multimeter once it has been disconnected. Replace the igniter if it fails the test. If it passes, continue to step 3. Please turn on your oven to ensure it is heating up properly. If the oven still does not heat up, continue to step 3.

3. Check that the broil electrode is working

Next, check the spark electrode. This component is responsible for lighting the broil or bake flame in your oven so that it can heat. Your oven won’t heat up or ignite if it’s not working correctly. Check the spark electrode by turning off the gas and the electricity. Find the spark electrode. It can be located next to the burner. If you find the electrode, check for wear and tear. Replace it if it is damaged. Test it with a Multimeter if it’s not damaged. Test the spark electrode by disconnecting the wires and using your multimeter to check for continuity. Replace the electrode if it fails the test. If the electrode passes, continue to step 4. Please turn on your oven to ensure it is heating up properly. If the oven still does not heat up, continue to step 4.

4. Check that the safety valve is working

The safety valve is the last component of the gas oven to be tested. The safety valve is opened to supply gas to the burner. Your oven will not heat if the valve does not open properly. Check the safety valve by turning off the gas and the electricity. Find the safety valve. After finding the safety valve, remove it and test it using a multimeter. Replace the safety valve if it fails the continuity test. If the safety valve passes, continue to step 6. Step 5 only applies to electric ovens. Please turn on your oven to ensure it is heating up properly. If the oven still does not heat up, proceed to step 6. Step 5 only applies to electric cookers.

5. Check that the bake element is working

A faulty bake element is the most common cause of a Frigidaire oven not heating up properly. If the component is defective, the oven will not produce heat. If applicable, remove the cover of the bake element to check it. Remove the cover if there is one to see the bake element. Set your oven to bake at the highest temperature. The bake element should be bright red. It’s not bright red, which means it’s defective and must be replaced. Continue to step 6 if the component works. Test the element with a continuity multimeter before replacing it. Replace the element if it fails the test. Check if the oven is heating correctly after you replace the bake element. If the oven still doesn’t heat up, continue to step 6.

6. Check that the thermal fuse is working

Check the thermal fuse on your Frigidaire to ensure it works properly. The thermal fuse monitors the temperature of your oven and turns it off if it gets too hot. If the thermal fuse records the wrong temperature, your oven may not heat up properly. Check the thermal fuse by turning off the gas and power. Find the thermal fuse. After locating the thermal fuse, please remove it from its socket and test it using a multimeter. Replace the thermal fuse if it fails the continuity test. If the test is passed, proceed to step 7. Please turn on your oven to ensure it is heating up properly. If the oven still does not heat, continue to step 7.

7. Replace the control panel

The control board can be replaced if all the above components function correctly. It can be expensive to replace the control board, so it is best to have a technician inspect your oven before you make this decision.
